To get your size, measure comfortably around your head where your cap will sit, with a tape measure. Take that number in inches, divide by 3.14 (pi) and round up to the nearest eighth. This is your cap size. See the chart for size conversions. You can also print out our hat sizer, click here.
To get your size, measure around your head in the spot where a cap would rest with a soft tape measure.Take that number in inches and divide by 3.14 (pi).Round up to the nearest eighth to get your size.
Small hats (listed as size 6 3/4 – 6 7/8) are for heads that measure 21 1/8″ – 21 1/2″ (54 – 55 cm). Medium hats (listed as size 7 – 7 1/8) are for heads that measure 21 7/8″ – 22 1/4″ (56 – 57 cm). Large hats (listed as size 7 1/4 – 7 3/8) are for heads that measure 22 5/8″ – 23″ (58 – 59 cm).
Place 1 end of the string in the middle of your forehead, and wrap it around your head. You want the string to rest about 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) above your ears, right where you'd like the hat to sit on your forehead. This can also be done with a sewing tape measure.
For men, the average head size is right around 23 and ¼ inches, which corresponds to a Large (L), while for women, the average size is around 22 and ⅜ inches, or a size Medium (M). Beyond these sizes, one option is to select a cap that's listed as OSFM—meaning One Size Fits Most.
Keep in mind that head shapes and sizes differ among hat lovers. However, the hat size that men most commonly wear is 7 ⅜. Meanwhile, the average cap size for women is 7 ¼. Make sure that there's some space between your head and the hat (about the width of your finger).
Start with a measuring tape (or a piece of string you can measure later), and wrap it around your head, placing it where your hat will sit- typically, at the middle of your forehead and about 1/8" above your ear. Hold the tape firmly, but not uncomfortably tight. Find your size using the chart below.
So a S/M hat would fit heads with measurements of 21 inches to 22 1/2 inches, or hat sizes 6 3/4 to 7 1/8. A L/XL (Large through Extra Large) hat would fit measurements just over 22 1/2 up to 24 inches, or hat size 7 1/4 to 7 5/8.
