Finding your perfect pair of jeans is a fabulous feeling, but knowing if you found “the one” can be confusing. As a general rule of thumb when trying on pants and jeans, think comfort first. Here are 4 questions to ask yourself to discover if your pants don’t quite fit.
1. DO Your Pants BUTTON WITH EASE?
Are you lying down and sucking it all in to button your pants? This is a sign they’re too tight. Try the sit-down test: If you feel as if you want to unbutton your pants when you sitting, you won’t be comfortable.
2. ARE THEY TOO TIGHT IN THE THIGHS?
If you need to squat and jump up and down a few times to pull on your jeans, they’re too tight. Other signs of extreme tightness: stretched-out seams, wrinkling fabric (especially in the crotch region), a folding waistband or a zipper that slips down too easily.
3. DO Your Pants FLATTEN OUT YOUR REAR?
Additionally, look back at your bum for more cues and clues. If the pants make your bottom look flat or create unflattering creases, think about trying out a larger size.
4. ARE Your Pants LONG ENOUGH?
Over time your jeans and pants can shrink (I promise you’re not just getting taller!). Make sure to check the length of your pants for the perfect inseam. Keep in mind, inseams can differ depending on style.
