As the game of hockey changes over the years, so has the equipment used. One of the newer changes being seen is that players are using much longer sticks than ever before! The result is that factory height of retail hockey sticks are not tall enough for many players. If you are over 6 feet tall, chances are you find it tough to find good sticks.
So what can be done and how do tall players find taller sticks?
1. ADD AN EXTENSION (PLUG)
The old approach has always been to add an extension to the stick. Wood works, and new composite extensions can be the perfect solution. There are a few issues with extensions, however.The can sometimesbecome loose, composite extensions can be expensive, and when you need a large extension it can add significant weight or throw off the sticks balance. This is the most affordable solution but not one we would consider the most optimal.
Wood plugs are $5-10 and Composite Extensions are $15-$20.
2. ORDER CUSTOM
For playerslooking for a high quality composite one-piece, it is possible to order custom, taller model sticks directly from some manufacturers. This can be effective for players who go through a lot of sticks because you typically need to order them 12 sticks at a time. However, this makes customer ordering quite expensive.
Custom ordered high end one pieces will generally cost $1200-$1800 per half dozen.In addition,many brands no longer allow custom orders, which limits the amount of custom options available to a select few. This route also doesn't give you the benefit of the typical 30 day warranty.
3. ORDER PRO STOCKS
Many pro players are over 6 feet tall and therefore their sticks are made to be taller. These taller hockey sticks are generally made with a 64 inch one-piece shaft, compared to the typical 60 inch shaft in retail. Pro stock sticks are also made to be more durable and have a higher level of quality control during manufacturingcompared to retail sticks, making them a great long-term option for tall players.The only downfall is that pro stocks do not come with a warranty.
Players over 6'6 are given league approval for manufactures to create 66-68" inch shafts.

Do you have any right handed hockey sticks that 66"-68" in length without any extensions? If not, do you know of any place that i would be able to find one? My son is 6` 7" and is having a hard time finding a stick with the right height.
