A typical round of 18 holes is fun, but why not add a little spice to your game? Sixes, otherwise known as Round Robin or Hollywood, is a great game for four golfers with a little extra twist.

In Sixes, group members play against each other, 2 vs.2. But then, players rotate partners after every six holes, so every member of the group partners with every other member over the course of the round.

The Rules

1. Pair Up!

For the sake of simplicity, we’ll label each golfer 1, 2, 3 and 4.

  • For holes 1-6, 1 and 2 will play 3 and 4.
  • For holes 7-12, 1 and 3 will play 2 and 4.
  • For holes 13-18, 1 and 4 will play 2 and 3.

2. Pick a scoring method.

Sixes works with any kind of scoring method that works for 2-on-2 play (think best ball, alternate shot, etc.) so choose whichever one you prefer. You can keep it the same, or switch it up when you switch partners.

3. Play!

How to Win

The winner is the person who has been on the winning side of at least two matches. So, you could lose the first six hole match but win the second and third, and still come out on top.

Sixes is best played by golfers with similar skill levels, or by golfers with full handicaps.
