Netflix closes up in Russia (1)Netflix’s website and application are no longer working in Russia.

As a result, reports Kommersant, the service can only be received via a VPN.

It adds that although Netflix is not in the register of services banned by the Russian regulator Roskomnadzor, it can itself choose to stop access to its services from Russian IP addresses.

As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Netflix announced in early March that it was suspending its service in Russia in response to the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

Russian customers subsequently filed a lawsuit against the company, demanding R60 million (€663,000) in compensation.

Netflix is believed to have under a million subscribers in Russia.
