Ray C. Davis

Managing Partner and Majority Owner

Ray Davis is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avatar Investments, L.P. (“Avatar”), a family-owned diversified investment company. Prior to Avatar, Mr. Davis spent over 30 years working and holding various leadership roles in the energy industry. In 1994, he co-founded Energy Transfer Partners (ETP), which was then taken public in 2004. He was Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors until his retirement in 2007. He also served as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Energy Transfer Equity (ETE) from the time of its initial offering until retirement.

Mr. Davis is Managing Partner and Majority Owner of the Texas Rangers and is the Chairman of the team’s Board of Directors. Since he became a Principal owner in August 2010, the Rangers have won four A.L. West Division titles and two A.L. pennants and advanced to postseason play five times.

Mr. Davis has presided over a period of unprecedented growth in the franchise from a business and community perspective, including the construction of Globe Life Field, a 1.25-billion-dollar facility with a retractable roof that opened in March 2020. In its three years of existence, Globe Life Field has hosted not only Texas Rangers home games but also numerous major sports and entertainment events, including three rounds of Major League Baseball’s 2020 postseason, the 2020 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, college baseball and football, and concerts featuring many of the music industry’s top performers. The Rangers former home, Choctaw Stadium, has been reconfigured as an outdoor multipurpose sports and entertainment venue and has been the home of over 200 events in the last three years.

In November 2022, it was announced that Globe Life Field and Arlington, Texas will host the 2024 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Globe Life Field and the reconfigured Choctaw Stadium complement and enhance two other major development projects in the Arlington Entertainment District that have been completed in the last four years, Texas Live! and Live! by Loews-Arlington, TX. Loews Hotel.

Several other major facilities representing nearly one billion dollars in construction development will be opening over the next two years. The $550 million Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center is scheduled to open in early 2024 and will add nearly 900 rooms and 200,000 square feet of convention space in the Arlington Entertainment District. Spark Arlington Coworking opened in January and anchors the southeast corner of Choctaw Stadium. One Rangers Way broke ground last fall, and that luxury residential community will be the first of its kind in Arlington. Further expansion over the next several years will include even more dining, retail, and entertainment options for residents and visitors alike in The American Dream City.

Mr. Davis has also played a significant role in the relocation of the National Medal of Honor Museum to the Arlington Entertainment District, and a spectacular new exhibit building is scheduled to open in 2024.

Under Mr. Davis’ watch, the Rangers are aggressively promoting the game of baseball through the construction of Texas Rangers Youth Academy in West Dallas, and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s completion of a multi-million dollar endowment that will provide community programs and assistance for years to come. The Rangers have also made a major commitment in facilities for its player development program, completing construction on both a state-of-the-art baseball academy in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic and a baseball housing and meeting facility adjacent to the organization’s Surprise, Arizona complex in the last several years.

Mr. Davis has been active in Major League Baseball during his tenure with the Rangers, serving on the MLB Executive, Labor, and Competition Owners Committees.

Mr. Davis has offices in Dallas and at Globe Life Field. He resides in North Texas with his wife, Linda, and has three adult children, who live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. His interests include ranching, bird hunting and reading.
