Log in to the Returns Portal using your order number and the email address used to place the order. Let us know what you’d like to return and why.

Once you've registered your return via the portal, follow the instructions on how to send your return package back to us. When your return parcel is in transit, you will receive an email with a link for tracking.

  • You have 30 days to decide if an item is right for you. If you decide to make a return or exchange, head to any H&M store in the United States (excluding Puerto Rico), or register your return in the return portal.

    RETURN POLICY

    H&M will refund most items within 30 days of purchase so long as they are in resellable condition, provided it has not been damaged, soiled, washed, altered or worn and that all labels and tags are attached, including furniture which must be disassembled and returned in it's original packaging. The following exceptions are in place:

    •After 30 days you will receive an e-merchandise credit.
    • For returns toour online warehouse, there will be a return fee of $2.99 for H&M Members and $5.99 for non-Members. H&MPlus Members receive free online returns.​ Returns in-store are always free!
    • For hygiene and safety reasons, we can only accept returns of Beauty items if the product is unopened.
    • Undergarments are Final Sale for hygienic reasons.
    • We cannot offer refunds on swimwear if the hygienic seal is not in place or has been broken.
    • Fabric face masks cannot be returned due to safety and hygienic reasons.
    • We do not accept returns of restricted items.Read more about restricted items.
    • Gift cards are Final Sale.
    • Special collections and designer collaborations may be subject to a return policy that may differ from our standard return policy above.
    • A small number of products cannot be returned to store. Should you try to return one of these items, our store staff will support you in other ways to place your return.
    • Some items are marked “Final Sale” and can not be returned even with a receipt.

    You cannot exchange items online. If you prefer items in another color, or size, please return the items you don’t like and place a new order on hm.com.

    FREE IN-STORE RETURN OR EXCHANGE
    You are always welcome to return or exchange for free in any H&M store in the US, excluding Puerto Rico. Please bring the e-receipt attached to your shipping confirmation email along with the item(s) you wish to return/exchange within 30 days of purchase. After 30 days, you will be eligible for exchange only at the current selling price. Items exchanged must be of equal or greater value.

    The following cannot be returned in stores:

    • Articles from H&M HOME purchased online cannot be returned in our stores and must be returned by mail.
    •Damaged orders must be returned to the warehouse. For missing and incorrect items, please contact Customer Service for assistance.

    Your refund will be issued in the form of original payment, such as the credit card used for the order. Shipping and handling costs are not refundable. We will issue a refund to the original form of payment. Please allow up to 14 days for your transaction to process.

    RETURNS WITH USPS

    To return items via USPS, simply show the QR code when you hand over your package at a USPS location or print and affixthe label provided in our Returns Portal. This label is pre-paid and pre-addressed. The return shipping fee of $5.99 willautomatically be deducted from your refund. Ifyou’resigned up as an H&M Member, please use the label provided andyou willbe charged a return fee of $2.99.PlusMembers enjoy free returns.

    Return Instructions:

    1. Visit our Returns Portal to get started.
    2. Place the item(s) you wish to return in a suitable bag or box, e.g. the one you received your order in.
    3. Download the QR code to show when handing your package over at a USPS location or print and affix the return label provided in our Returns Portal.
    4. Take the package to any Post Office or USPS Mailbox of your choice.

    Your refund will be issued in the form of original payment. Shipping and handling costs are not refundable.

    You will receivereturn tracking emails and a return confirmation email when your merchandise has been processed.Please allow up to two weeks for the credit to post to your account. Please allow up to two billing cycles for the credit to appear on your credit card statement.

    RETURNS OF ORDERS USING FREE IN-STORE PICKUP
    Please note that all Free In-store Pickup orders can only be returned in stores. Returns by mail are not accepted. To learn more about this service and for FAQs, click here.

  • RETURNS WITH RECEIPTS
    We offer an exchange or refund with a receipt, within 30 days of the purchase date, using the original payment method. After 30 days with receipt, you will be eligible for exchange only at the current selling price. Items exchanged must be of equal or greater value.

    RETURNS WITH NO RECEIPTS
    Merchandise cannot be exchanged or returned without receipt.

    H&M RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE EXCESSIVE RECEIPTED AND NON-RECEIPTED RETURNS.

    RETURNS WITH GIFT RECEIPTS
    Merchandise being returned with a H&M gift receipt or purchased with an H&M gift card will have the refund issued on a merchandise credit.

    All Merchandise must be returned in the original selling condition. We accept returns of all articles except for the following exceptions:

    • For hygiene and safety reasons, we can only accept returns of Beauty items if the product is unopened.
    • Undergarments are Final Sale for hygienic reasons
    • We cannot offer refunds on swimwear if the hygienic seal is not in place or has been broken.
    • Fabric face masks cannot be returned due to safety and hygienic reasons.
    • Gift cards are Final Sale.
    •Select few products can only be returned via mail and will not be accepted in any stores. Should you try to return one of these items in-store, our staff will help you in other ways place your return.

    Purchases made in US stores can be returned at any other US store, excluding Puerto Rico. Store purchases made in Puerto Rico cannot be returned to stores outside of Puerto Rico. Only even exchanges will be accommodated in these cases.

  • If you would like to return an item you purchased using Pay later, you can first report the return on your account page. Go to to report your return. Your invoice from Klarna will be put on hold until your return is processed, and you’ll receive an updated statement from Klarna.

    • Klarna will contact you directly with information about your refund payment.
    • Once your return is processed, you will automatically receive an updated Pay later balance from Klarna. This will include any instructions on how to make your payment if you have a remaining balance.
    • Klarna will contact you by email if they need bank details from you to make the re-payment.

    For any questions relating to your refund payment, please contact Klarna directly. For anything related to your returned parcel, please contact H&M's customer service.

    Online returns sent back to our warehouse past 30 days will be refunded to an e-merchandise credit. If you return in-store past 30 days, you will be eligible for exchange at the current selling price.

    If paying by gift card issued by a financial institution, please retain the card until you have made all returns as any refunds will automatically be applied to the card used for the purchase.

    GIFT CARDS
    If you pay using a physical H&M Gift Card or H&M e-Gift Card, all refunds will be issued to a new H&M e-Gift Card with an updated balance to the email on file.

    If you pay using an H&M Gift Card and an additional payment method, we will first refund your additional payment method in full and then place the remaining balance on an H&M e-Gift Card.

    For example, you placed an order totaling $100, paying $25 with an H&M Gift Card and $75 with a credit card. You decide to return $80 worth of items. We will refund $75 to the credit card used at purchase and the remaining $5 to an H&M e-Gift Card.

    PAYPAL
    If you pay using PayPal, we will refund the balance to your PayPal account.

  • Your item is likely unable to be returned and is final sale. Check above to review our policy.

  • If you’re using a return label, follow these steps:

    1. Register returns for all the orders in the returns portal and download the respective labels.

    2. Place one label on the outside of the parcel and one label in the package; it doesn’t matter which one.

    If you’re using a QR code, follow these steps:

    1. Register the items from any one of the orders in the returns portal.

    2. Show the QR code for the same order at the USPS location.

    3. You do not need to register the returns or show the QR code for the other orders at the USPS location if you are placing the items in a single parcel for return.

  • If you can't fit your items in one package, register two separate returns. For example, first, register the items that fit in one package, then register the remaining items so that you receive two labels or QR codes.

  • Our returns are now paperless! Visit our Returns Portal to register your return. You’ll receive a QR code to show at the Post Office who will print and ship the package for you or you can download and print the label at home.

    All store purchases must be returned in store.

  • Contact Customer Service and we will send you the missing parts free of charge. Make sure you have the article number of the incomplete item on hand when you contact us. The article number can be found on your receipt or order confirmation or in My H&M.

  • Please note, the state requires a non-refundable fee of $0.27 be collected on every retail sale. For the most-up-to-date information, kindly check with your state's local authorities.
