Season tickets are a great option for frequent travellers if you’re making the same journey at least three or four times a week. Not only are they cheaper per journey than daily tickets, you also get unlimited travel on your route.

Buying the right Season ticket

Season tickets are available in a few different options and it can be hard to decide which one to choose. Our guide below will help you decide which Season ticket you need.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) Season tickets

If you are looking to buy a Season ticket within the West Midlands rail zones and specified Out of County stations, you'll need a TfWM Network ticket. Network tickets are available in two types for use on our trains:

nTrain season tickets gives you unlimited train travel on all participating train operators within the specified rail zones
nNetwork season tickets gives you unlimited train, bus and tram travel within the specified rail zones

Just so you know...

You can buy a Network season ticket for seven days, termly, monthly or a year.
Find out what rail zone your station is by viewing the West Midlands Railway Network Map (Mar 2024)or using the Find my rail zone tool (via TfWM website).
nNetwork or nTrain season tickets can be loaded onto Swift cards and used as a ticket for the train. Visit the TfWM website for additional information on the Swift card.
If you are nNetwork or nTrain season ticket holder, you can take an adult and up to two children with you for £1 when travelling off-peak with a .

Station-to-station Season tickets

Station-to-station Season Tickets allow unlimited travel in both directions between two stations. You can buy a Season Ticket for seven days or any period between one month and a year:

Weekly - Unlimited travel for 7 consecutive days, pay for just five days. Cheaper than 5 Anytime Day Returns.
Monthly - Cheaper than 4 separate weekly tickets, start on any day and it's available for a whole calendar month. Alternatively, choose your own time frame with a Monthly+.
Annual - The best value season ticket, giving you 52 weeks travel for the price of just 40. Eligible for further discounts on leisure rail travel with an Annual Gold Card.

First class Season Tickets are available on selected routes
Include Plusbus for getting to/from the station and avoid having two separate tickets to carry about.

Flexi-season tickets

The Flexi Season ticket offers 8 days of travel in 28 days – any time between two stations. It’s a flexible solution that’s perfect if you need to travel to work a couple of times a week at peak time Monday to Friday.

Offers great savings against buying Anytime Day tickets and allows you to choose which days to travel. Also available for West Midlands rail zones 1-5 and out of county stations.

What is a photocard and why do I need one?

You will need to be able to produce a National Rail Photocard (as a form of ID) to buy and travel with a Season Ticket with a validity period of 28 days/1 month or longer. Ticket offices offer these for free; all you need to do is provide a recent passport-type photograph of yourself.

If you are unable to access a ticket office or purchasing online, we can also accept a standard form of ID - for example a driver's licence, as proof of identification.

Annual Gold Cards benefits

1/3 off Standard and First Class Anytime and Off-Peak tickets for the cardholder and up to three adults aged 16 or over travelling with them
60% off child fares for up to four children aged between 5 and 15 years (subject to a £1 minimum fare)

1/3 off Off-Peak Day Travelcard Zones 1-6

Discounts are available for travel at or after 09:30 hours on Mondays to Fridays. Valid at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
