TikTok is testing a new Q&A feature that lets creators respond directly to follower questions with text or video. Here’s what you need to know about the cool tool.
What is TikTok’s Q&A feature?
The Q&A function lives in creators’ bios and allows fans to ask questions. Creators can view a question, tap the Q&A button and respond with either a comment or a video. According to Tech Crunch, the feature can be used both for video replies and in livestreams, similar to how creators already make video responses to comments on previous TikToks.

The feature was first spotted byMatt Navarra, a social media consultant, on Jan. 19, 2021.
Why does TikTok need a Q&A feature?
While Q&A features are common on social media platforms like Snapchat, TikTok doesn’t make it easy for influencers to host Q&As with their fans. Creators can respond to comments but only with entire, separate videos. Moreover, if a creator gets thousands of comments, it can be hard to keep track of questions.
The Q&A feature keeps follower questions all in one place and makes them easier to access.
How do I get the Q&A feature?
During the test round, the Q&A feature is only available to public Creator Profiles with at least 10,000 followers and a minimum of 10,000 views within the last 30 days, according to PopBuzz.
Here are a few steps you can follow if you meet that criteria.
First, make sure you’re using the most up-to-date version of TikTok and update if required.
Next, tap the “Me” at the bottom bar to open up you profile and hit the three vertical dots located at the top right-hand corner.
Finally, tap “Creator” and “Q&A” and hit “Turn on Q&A” to activate it.

The creator you want to ask a question must have the feature enabled. If they do have the Q&A feature, simply go to the post you want to comment on, go to the “Add Comment” section and tap the question mark. Write your burning question and submit. Hopefully, you’ll get the answer you seek.
If you just have a more general question, some creators also have a general Q&A section in their bios which you can use to submit anything that comes to mind.
