By default, Google Chrome blocks pop-ups from automatically showing up on your screen. When a pop-up is blocked, the address bar will be marked Pop-up blocked Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (1). You can also decide to allow pop-ups.

If you still get pop-ups after disabling them:

Change your default pop-ups & redirects settings

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (2) Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (3) Settings.
  3. Click Privacy and security Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (4) Site Settings Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (5) Pop-ups and redirects.
  4. Choose the option that you want as your default setting.

Manage pop-ups & redirects for a specific site

Not all pop-ups are ads or spam. Some legitimate websites display web content in pop-up windows.

Allow pop-ups and redirects from a site

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a page where pop-ups are blocked.
  3. In the address bar, click Pop-up blocked Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (6).
  4. Click the link for the pop-up you want to see.
  5. To always see pop-ups for the site, select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site] Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (7) Done.

Block pop-ups and redirects from a site

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (8) Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (9) Settings.
  3. Click Privacy and security Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (10) Site Settings.
  4. Click Pop-ups and redirects.
  5. Under "Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects," find the site.
  6. To the right of the site, click More Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (11) Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (12) Block.

If the site isn't listed, next to "Not allowed to send pop-ups or use redirects," click Add. Enter the site's web address, and then click Add. To capture all pop-ups across the site, use the pattern [*.]example.com.

Block notifications

If you still get communications from a site after disabling pop-ups, you may be subscribed to notifications. To turn off notifications for a site:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to the site you get notifications from.
  3. Click View site informationBlock or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer (13).
  4. Next to "Notifications," select Block from the drop down menu.

You can also block notifications from your site settings.
